Basic information on setting up and using Campdraft Manager

1 - Installing Campdraft Manager

(a) Place the CD in the CD/DVD drive.
(b) On most Windows system the autorun feature will display the install screen. If the disk does not start automatically go to Computer or MyComputer (Windows xp), open the DVD drive and click on Autorun.
(c) Follow the instructions given on screen. It is recommended that you accept the default settings for the installation of the system.

2 - Opening/Starting the Campdraft Manager

To start the Campdraft Manager program click on Start and Programs and select Mylett Software (or the group that you selected during Setup) and then select Campdraft Manager.

On starting the system for the first time and at other times you will be requested to place the original CD (i.e. the version 3.x CD) into the drive. Enter (or check on subsequent occasions) the drive label for the DVD drive (sometimes d:, but often e: or f: or some other letter*) and the ID code which is found on the back of the CD case. A copyright notice will be displayed for a few seconds. You will then need to enter the name and a date for your first draft (for later identification) and the main menu will then be available on your screen.

The first time the program is started and periodically thereafter you may be requested to insert your original program disk – the original Version 2.1 CD – into the floppy drive. Enter (or check if the information is displayed) the drive label for the CD drive (usually d:) and the ID code which is found on the back of the CD case. Follow the instructions on screen. (This process takes only a few seconds to complete.)

& To create a shortcut to the package on your desktop: Right click with the mouse on the menu item that starts the system. Select Send to.. Desktop (create shortcut).

* If you do not know the drive letter, open Computer (or MyComputer in Windows xp). you should see the DVD drive with the drive letter displayed.

Menus: From the main screen select a menu item by clicking on the item; or holding down the "Alt" key and pressing the highlighted letter of the item. A submenu will appear. Items in the sub-menu with an arrow to the right indicate that they have further submenus. To select from the submenu, press the highlighted key; click on the item; or use the up and down arrow keys to highlight the item and press enter.

Dialog Boxes (windows that require data entry) have many common features. These include:
- Pressing the "Tab" key will move from one selected item to another.
- Buttons are "pressed" by clicking with the mouse or pressing Enter when they are
highlighted
- Shortcuts are shown as underlined letters in names. Pressing Alt and these letters on the keyboard will select the item.
- Radio button (a dot in round brackets) groups can only have one item selected at a time. Use the up and down arrows or click to select a different item.
- Check box ("X"s in square brackets) can have the setting changed by clicking with the mouse or pressing the space bar if the item is highlighted.
- "Cancel" buttons will exit the dialog and any changes made will be lost. The original data
will be restored. "OK" or "Save" buttons will exit the box and save data changes.
- Dialog boxes must be closed or exited before access to the menus is restored.
- The box can be moved about the screen if needed by dragging the title of the box with the mouse.

Dialog boxes can also include:
- Lists of names for selection: Often double clicking on the name will select the name and also perform another function. (eg In the "Add/Edit" list a double click is equivalent to selecting the name and pressing "Edit"; in the "Select" name list a double click will select the name and close the dialog box.)
- Simple information boxes which require a click on OK to continue
- Edit boxes where text is to be entered: The selected text will be replaced by any keystrokes. The "Insert" key can be used to change between "insert" and "overwrite" modes. The "Home", "End", arrow and backspace keys and the mouse also operate in the
same manner as in a word processor.

Windows: Windows on screen can be moved as for the dialog boxes. The vertical and horizontal scroll bars (on the right and bottom of the window) are to be used to view information that cannot fit onto the one screen. The information can be printed by selecting options on the status line. The window can be resized by dragging the corners with the mouse, or by clicking the zoom icon on the top right of the window frame. The window can be closed and removed from the screen by clicking on the close icon on the top left of the window frame or by using the shortcuts displayed on the status line. More than one window can be open on the screen at the same time.

Status Line: The line at the bottom of the Campdraft Manager Window contains information to alert the user to the current processes. The information will vary depending on the information displayed on the screen at any time. While no processing is being carried out the status line will usually indicate the data set that is currently selected by the user.
Print Dialog: When a report is about to be printed a dialog box appears on the screen. This allows the user to preview the report if required, to print the report or to exit without printing. The report name is displayed and the printer that has been selected. The user can change the printer by clicking on the printer icon on the right side of the box. Particular pages of the reports can be printed by selecting the 'pages' icon. [To use this option it is recommended that the report be previewed first and the required page numbers noted.] If individual pages are selected the dialog does not close. Either select the pages icon to print further
pages or click on Exit to close the dialog. When the print option is selected to print the full report, the dialog automatically closes.
